Orchard House is a private, non-profit 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to keeping Shoreline area seniors living in the community as independently as possible, and for as long as possible, avoiding premature institutionalization in a nursing home. Orchard House offers adult day health care including programs of health monitoring and structured activities designed to meet the individual needs of clients and their families.
For 30 years the Orchard House staff has provided daily personalized service in a friendly, professional environment. Services include nursing care, therapeutic recreation, individual and family counseling, a nutritional meal and healthy snacks daily, and transportation services. Individual care plans are developed for each client including those with cardiac ailments, diabetes, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other dementia and neurological disorders. Professional staff include an Executive Director, Registered Nurses, Certified Nurses’ Aides, a Recreational Therapist, Food Service Workers and Professional Van Drivers.
As a non-profit organization, Orchard House relies on public and private donations to help maintain its services. A scholarship fund has been established to assist those unable to pay the full cost of services, and the South Central Connecticut Area Agency on Aging provides additional funds through its Title 3 grant of the Older Americans Act, and the Connecticut Home Care Program.
